HEADACHE PROGRAM
The Comprehensive Headache Program provides evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with migraine and other headache syndromes. The program offers pharmacologic as well as non-pharmacologic treatment of headache.
Physicians participating in the program are available for urgent consultations with referring physicians.
Clinical Services
Migraine affects nearly 20 million women and up to 7 million men in the United States. The loss of productivity in the workplace and in social interaction is costly both to the patient and to society. Crucial to headache and migraine management is accurate diagnosis.
The UCLA Comprehensive Headache and Migraine Program (CHAMP) was recently established with the following goals:
- To provide a unique multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients with migraine and other headache syndromes.
- To educate patients and their families, housestaff and community physicians, and lay people about all aspects of headache and migraine, including current research on the epidemiology and pathophysiology and on new drug treatments for this disorder.
- To develop innovative ways to bring about more efficient and effective care for sufferers of headache and migraine.
Community Services
The Program offers bimonthly Patient Education/ Community Outreach Conferences at convenient community locations. Patients and family members are encouraged to attend. There is no cost to participants.
