NEURO-ONCOLOGY
The Neuro-Oncology Program provides consultations and, when appropriate, primary care to patients suffering from neuro-oncologic diseases such as primary malignant brain tumors, primary malignant spinal cord tumors, metastatic brain tumors, carcinomatous meningitis, epidural spinal cord compression, paraneoplasti disorders, and neurologic complications of cancer and its treatment. The patient evaluation and treatment approach takes advantage of functional imaging modalities (e.g., SPECT, PET), innovative chemotherapeutic protocols, and radiosurgery. Clinical trials are available, including barier modification, gene therapy, and intra-arterial treatment.
